Foods to avoid on the PoundforPound diet
These foods are high in carbohydrates and will stop you losing weight.
Don’t eat
them if you want to lose weight.
AVOID:-
Bread - all types (Except Hi-Lo bread low carb from Sainsburys, or similar)
Crackers/crispbreads
Pasta
Rice
Noodles
Pizza
Potatoes
Most
root vegetables (contain starch which is carbohyrdate, there are
some exceptions)
Sweetcorn
Fruit (except some berries eg blueberries, strawberries, raspberries).
Bananas are particularly bad
Fruit juice
Soft drinks which contain sugar
- diet sodas are allowed
Yoghurt
Cakes, biscuits or any sweet or sugary foods
Cereals
Jam, honey etc
Not too much milk – small amount okay. A dash in tea and coffee is allowed, but
don't drink it by the glass. Milk (unlike cream) contains lactose which is
a type of sugar. Lactose free milk has lower carbs so is an alternative. Or use
cream in coffee instead.
Crisps and all snacks (see
snack
ideas for alternatives)
Ready meals
Processed food in general including things like tinned soup,
baked beans etc.
Flour is bad, but you can use a small amount to make a sauce if you want to.
Margarine - Use butter instead
If the above seems like a huge limitation, don't worry:
